Write Better By Reading

“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things about all others: read a lot and write a lot…reading is the creative center of a writer’s life…you cannot hope to sweep someone else away by the force of your writing until it has been done to you.” ~ Stephen King

Over the past couple of years, I have spent more time reading and it has awoken a creative side in me. As I read books, rather they are technical in nature or fiction, I feel like this is something I could do if I put my mind to it. While my blogging here is not super creative, it still gives me an opportunity to write my thoughts down or relieve a bit of the pressure on my desire to write creatively.

Now that I have put some thought to it, I may begin to follow through on a notion that I’ve had before. I may start writing short stories as blog posts on the site. I think that would be a great way to start doing creative writing and get some of the ideas I have in my head out on paper.

I profess that I have a fear of missing some ingredients of good story telling. Best thing for me to do is start, even though I’m not ready.
